FOUNDER'S PERSPECTIVE

Fr. Mathias Wolff and Ecological Responsibility

Our Founder, Fr. Mathias Wolff, constantly encouraged us to live in God's presence.

He teaches:

"In our daily work and dealings with others, we should try not to lose sight

of God. Practicing God's presence will help us walk with Him always and find

Him everywhere."

(Wolff, Grondregels, 86)

To "find God everywhere" includes recognizing God in His creation.

When we contemplate nature, we encounter God's wisdom and love. Nature

becomes a school that teaches us patience, harmony, generosity, resilience, and

interconnectedness.

Fr. Wolff further reminds us:

"Remembering that 'God sees me' will strengthen us against every

temptation."

Today, one of the temptations facing humanity is environmental irresponsibility—

overconsumption, wastefulness, exploitation of resources, and indifference toward

climate change.

If we truly remember that God sees us:

• We will use resources responsibly.

• We will avoid waste.

• We will protect the vulnerable who suffer most from climate

change.

• We will act for the common good.

For Fr. Wolff, every action should be:

"All for the greater honor and glory of God."

Protecting nature and safeguarding the climate become acts of worship and service

to God.
