Mission is a holistic and integral way, and it is a special quest, with the components of Justice, peace and Integrity of creation (JPIC), which has to be shared with every human being. The words of the Psalmist (85:11), reminds us that there is no justice without peace, and equally, no peace without justice. Both presuppose relationships marked by openness and care. This flows the desire to commit ourselves with greater passion and compassion through the Direction statement of the Congregational Chapter 2024-
Nurture ‘Eucharistic Hope’ as the cornerstone of our communities and mission to become agents of care, mercy and compassion.
Make courageous evangelical choices to leave ‘our nests’ and in solidarity go to the margins and peripheries, through preferential option for young people, families in need, migrants, transgenders and trafficked persons, in collaboration and networking with others for greater apostolic impact.
Identify Lay collaborators and empower them to be partners in our mission.
Facilitate personal and communal responsibility for our common home, protecting and renewing God’s creation.
Create eco-consciousness leading to eco-friendly lifestyle and social responsibility while working diligently towards achievable ‘Laudato Si’ and Sustainable Development Goals.
Journeying with people of different religions, races and cultures, and listening profoundly to the joys and suffering of humanity, have allowed us to be touched by the poverty, inequality, exclusion, violence and environmental destruction that are present in today’s world.
The International Day of the Girl Child Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and heartfelt participation at JMJ hospital, Nagavara on October 11, 2025. The day was dedicated to recognizing the strength, resilience, and potential of every girl and reaffirming our commitment to creating a world where girls can live with dignity, equality, and opportunity. The event was beautifully organized for the girl children of the doctors and staff of the hospital, highlighting both the challenges girls face and the power they possess to overcome them.
The celebration began with a warm welcome from the Administrator Sr. Elizabeth Rani K, followed by a soulful prayer led by Sr. Reni. Her prayer set a serene and reflective tone for the morning She invoked God’s blessings upon every girl child — that they may grow in wisdom, confidence, and grace, and that society may uphold their rights and honor their presence.Sr. Reni reminded everyone that the girl child is a precious gift of God, deserving of love, education, and respect. She prayed for a world free from discrimination and violence, where girls could live their dreams without fear. The prayer touched everyone deeply, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and hope. Following the prayer, Sr. Elizabeth welcomed Sr. Shyamala, the provincial councilor for a reflection session was held focusing on “The Importance of the Girl Child and What We Can Do.”
The reflection emphasized that investing in girls’ education and empowerment as one of the most effective ways to build a strong and equitable society. Educated girls grow into empowered women who contribute positively to their communities, lead with compassion, and inspire others.
The speaker highlighted key areas where everyone can take action:
1. Educating girls: Ensuring equal access to quality education and encouraging girls to pursue careers of their choice.
2. Supporting health and safety: Promoting awareness about physical and mental well-being and creating safe environments at home, school, and in the community.
3. Encouraging leadership: Giving girls opportunities to speak, lead, and make decisions.
4. Challenging stereotypes: Breaking down cultural barriers and gender biases that restrict a girl’s freedom or choices.
Through this reflection, participants were reminded that every small act — offering encouragement, providing opportunities, or simply listening — can help a girl realize her potential.
One of the most touching parts of the celebration was the creation of the “Inspiration Wall.” Staff of the hospital were invited to share their heartfelt thoughts, wishes, and messages dedicated to girl children in the form of art, songs, poems, letters etc. The wall soon filled with colorful notes expressing admiration, pride, and love. Some of the emotional messages read:
“A girl child is not a burden but a blessing — the heartbeat of every home.”
“When you educate a girl, you empower a generation.”
“May every girl know her worth and never doubt her power.”
Staff members also shared stories of their lives, about a girl or woman who showed courage, determination, and kindness despite facing challenges. The Inspiration Wall became a symbol of hope and unity, reflecting the shared belief that every girl deserves respect and opportunity.
To add a joyful touch to the occasion, a special cake-cutting ceremony was organized. The cake, beautifully decorated with the words “Happy International Day of the Girl Child,” symbolized celebration and togetherness. All the girl children in angelic attire cut the cake in the midst of cheerful applause. The moment was filled with smiles, laughter, and a sense of pride in celebrating girls and their achievements.
The program concluded with a short message from the Administrator, who expressed appreciation for everyone’s participation and emphasized the ongoing responsibility of society to nurture and support girls. She reminded everyone that celebrating one day is not enough; what truly matters is our everyday actions that protect and uplift the girl child.
As the celebration came to an end, the atmosphere was filled with gratitude, inspiration, and renewed commitment. The event not only honored girls but also encouraged everyone present to advocate for their rights and well-being. As the participants departed, they carried with them a strong reminder — that each of us has the power and responsibility to create a world where girls can thrive, dream freely, and shape a better future for all.
