Mahesh, a student of Government School, Angalakuduru, Tenali, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh has risen from a interested, reserved village child to the Prime Minister of the National Children’s Parliament — a milestone that fills JMJ Social Service Society, Guntur, and the wider community with pride.
When Mahesh first joined the JMJSSS Children’s Parliament, he had limited exposure to issues beyond his village. Like many children from disadvantaged backgrounds, he was unaware of child rights, civic participation, and leadership pathways. What set him apart was a natural curiosity and a readiness to learn: he asked questions, engaged in discussions, and embraced every opportunity.
A Promising Start of Fifteen-year-old Vadamala Mahesh of Angalakuduru, Andhra Pradesh, began his leadership journey in 2023 when his teacher, Priyanka, noticed his curiosity and encouraged him to join the Children's Parliament. In his first year he was elected Environment Minister, taking his first steps into student leadership.
Growing as a Leader, during 2024 Mahesh steadily built his communication, confidence, and teamwork skills through active participation in Children’s Parliament activities. He championed cleanliness and environmental awareness at school, learning responsibility and how to mobilize peers for shared goals.
Leading by Example-By 2025 Mahesh’s dedication had earned his classmates’ trust and he was elected Prime Minister of the Children’s Parliament. He organized tree-planting drives, promoted discipline, and encouraged collective responsibility for a clean, green, and healthy school environment. His example inspired many students to take part in environmental conservation and community service.
District and National Recognition- Mahesh’s outstanding leadership led to his selection to represent Andhra Pradesh at the National Children’s Parliament in Bhopal in 2025, bringing pride to his school and community. In 2026 he was elected Prime Minister of the Tenali District Group during the district session, where he was honored for his exemplary leadership and active engagement.
Mahesh’s journey—from an inquisitive student to a confident young leader—shows how mentorship, opportunity, and perseverance can empower children to become changemakers in their communities.
JMJ Social Service Society (JMJSSS) nurtured that potential by encouraging Mahesh’s active participation in school, regional, and national Children’s Parliament activities. Through leadership training, exposure visits, workshops, and participation in PRATYeK National Children’s Forums, he gradually became a confident, informed, and compassionate young leader.
These experiences deepened his understanding of child rights, the importance of education, equality, and social responsibility. Mahesh learned that leadership is service and that every child’s voice matters. Returning to his school, he mobilized peers to strengthen participation, improve the learning environment, promote regular attendance, and raise awareness of children’s rights.
His commitment inspired classmates and drove school development initiatives. He supported fellow students, practiced collaborative problem solving, and demonstrated that empowering children produces tangible community change. Over time, Mahesh strengthened his communication, teamwork, and leadership skills — qualities that won him national recognition.
In 2025 Mahesh was elected Prime Minister of the National Children’s Parliament — an extraordinary achievement that reflects perseverance and his ability to convene and lead nationwide online discussions where children from across India participated. Alongside his leadership, he excelled academically, completing his Class X with distinction and enrolling at Loyola College, Vijayawada, for Intermediate studies. His success shows that academic achievement and leadership growth can advance together.
Mahesh’s journey exemplifies the transformative impact of JMJ Social Service Society’s Children’s Parliament programme. It aligns directly with the Sustainable Development Goals by:
· Advancing Quality Education (SDG 4) through leadership education and peer-led school improvements.
· Reducing Inequalities (SDG 10) by empowering children from marginalized backgrounds to participate in decision-making.
· Promoting Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) indirectly, by equipping youth with skills for future leadership and civic engagement.
· Strengthening Partnerships (SDG 17) through collaboration with schools, national forums, and community stakeholders.
For JMJSSS, Mahesh’s achievement validates years of child-centred work—leadership development, rights-based education, and participatory platforms. His story encourages other children to dream big, claim their voice, and contribute to a just, inclusive, and child-friendly society.
